Fans Size Recommendations
All Emerson fans—whether 29", 36", 42", 50", 52", 54", or 56"—provide quiet and efficient operation.
For maximum performance, choose the right fan size for your room.
To get the most comfort from your fan, Emerson recommends:
29" Fan Bathroom, hallways Up to 50 sq. ft.
36" Fan Breakfast nooks, laundry rooms Up to 75 sq. ft.
42" Fan Small bedrooms, small kitchens Up to 100 sq. ft.
50" or 52" Fan Standard bedrooms, family rooms Up to 400 sq. ft.
52", 54" or larger Great rooms, large areas Over 400 sq. ft.
There is an Emerson fan for every room. For long or large rooms, consider more than one fan to handle your cooling requirements. For maximum comfort, the fan should be placed as close to the center of the room as possible. Blade tips should be at least 18 inches from any wall.
Ceiling Height Specifications for Choosing the Correct Ceiling Fan
Standard 8 Foot Ceilings
Emerson fans are designed to fit a standard eight-foot ceiling, which puts the blades seven feet from the floor for the best air movement and clearance.
Ceilings Lower than 8 Feet
Use the Emerson Ceiling Mounting Kit or go with an Emerson Snugger model to achieve the desired seven-foot blade clearance. Emerson offers an extensive selection of Snugger models to accommodate your needs.
Ceilings Above 8 Feet
For ceilings above eight feet, the fan should be hung by a downrod to eight or nine feet from the floor. This is important because the higher the fan is hung, the less air circulates near the floor. Choose one of the accessory downrods available in lengths of one foot to six feet to achieve your desired height.
The Emerson Ceiling Mounting Kit and the appropriately sized downrod will accommodate cathedral ceilings and sloped ceilings up to 40°. The dual purpose kit (low and sloped ceilings) allows you to mount your fan as close as eight inches from the ceiling.
Emerson Knows Motors
From the motor to the blades to the finishes, Emerson incorporates the finest details and craftsmanship to deliver only the highest quality fans. And, with so many models to choose from, you're sure to find the perfect one to deliver year-round comfort in any room of your home.
Emerson's commitment to quality begins on the inside, because the most important part of any ceiling fan is the motor. Emerson knows motors—we are the largest producer of fractional horsepower induction motors in the world.
The Emerson K55XL motor is, without question, the most reliable and most durable ceiling fan motor in the world, allowing for year-round operation of your fan.
An Emerson K55XL motor features sealed, precision steel bearings that never need oiling. Aluminum die-cast end shields and heavy-gauge stator windings protect the motor from overheating.
Over 2200 feet of quality copper wiring provide optimal performance and longevity. A larger stack height generates both low and high speed torque.
The motor also draws less than 1.0 amps at high speed. And Emerson's patented capacitor speed control further ensures quiet operation.
Another advantage of an Emerson fan is the patented Silent Rubber Hub, a computer-designed flywheel. The Silent Hub works as a shock absorber to isolate the blades and eliminate noise transmission. The flywheel keeps the blades in alignment at an optimum pitch and the result is greater air movement and incredibly quiet operation.
All in all, the heart of every ceiling fan is the motor and Emerson has been building top-performing motors for years. And that is why we can offer some of the best warranties in the industry.
